Elan Travel and Chef Eric Arrouzé are pleased to offer a unique culinary and cultural program in Southwest France, perfect for foodies and wine amateurs.
Chef Eric will take you back to his roots and immerse you in the delights of the picturesque, gourmet mecca that is Southwest France and the Bordeaux Region. This trip will take you from markets to vineyards, from Chateaux to cellars and to several amazing historical places. You will be captivated by one of France’s most bountiful and world renowned culinary and wine regions that is Bordeaux and Cognac.
This cultural program focuses on wine education and tastings with numerous visits to vineyards, farms, chateaux, villages as well as several UNESCO World Heritage cultural destinations.
During the week, you will travel to the Bordeaux region, visiting Médoc, Graves, Sauterne, Entre-Deux-Mers, Blay, Libournais, Saint Emilion, and Arcachon and make your way to Cognac to taste its fine Cognacs. Over the week we will settle into the comfortable Logis de France, Chateaux, *** and****hotels.
Join our small group for a wine tour of Bordeaux and Cognac. A wonderful way to see this beautiful and historic part of France while visiting some of the most famous vineyards in the world… and, of course, sampling their wines. The group size is limited to 8 travelers.

Day 1: Afternoon arrival in Bordeaux after. Check in to your hotel for 2 nights. Chef Eric will greet the participants at the hotel in the afternoon with a wine and cheese reception and wine tasting workshop. Visit Place de La Bourse and the historical district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight in Bordeaux.
Day 2: Drive to the Medoc region on the left bank of the Gironde estuary. Lunch in Margaux, wine tasting at a World renowned estate vineyard. Visit and tasting at the Chateau d’Agassac. Overnight in Bordeaux.
Day 3: Guided visit and tasting at the world-famous Château Pape Clément producing Grand Cru Classé red and white wines in Pessac-Léognan in the Graves Classification. Drive to the right bank of the Gironde, where the luscious Entre-Deux-Mers wines are produced; lunch en route. Check-in to your Château hotel adjacent to the Léognan vineyard which we will visit for a private tasting. Welcome dinner in Léognan. Overnight in Léognan.
Day 4: Departure for Arcachon. Visit to the Grande Dune du Pilat; the tallest sand dune in Europe over the Arcachon Bay. Visit Arcachon Bay with oysters and shellfish lunch complimented with local Bordeaux Blanc. Overnight in Arcachon.
Day 5: Check-out and depart for Sauternes and visit of a 1er Grand Cru Sauternes where the world’s finest Sauterne is produced. (Last time we visited and tasted Château d’Yquem). Then departure to St. Emilion for stay at the Château hotel and Saint-Emilion visit. Overnight near Saint Emilion.
Day 6: Check-out and short drive to Cognac. Guided visit of Château Otard and the Château of Cognac. Learn about the history, the terroir and the cognac-making process. Taste fine Cognacs. Overnight in Cognac.
Day 7: Leisure morning in Cognac, lunch in Cognac. The afternoon will be spent with a world-renowned Cognac producer. After visiting the distillery and cellars you will have the opportunity to taste XO Cognacs. Departure for Bordeaux. Overnight in Bordeaux.
Day 8: Hotel check out by 11 am and end of the program.
The fee is CAD$5800 for single or double room occupancy and includes:
- 7 breakfasts in minimum 3*hotels or equivalent.
- 6 light lunches (plat du jour) in restaurants.
- Daily workshop and multiple wine tastings.
- 1 welcome dinner in Léognan.
- Transportation during the program, starting in Bordeaux and ending in Bordeaux. (Participants will travel in a rented van).
- Daily cultural visits and tastings of local food delicacies.
- Visits to vineyards with wine tastings.
- Visits to numerous cultural, national heritage and UNESCO sites.
- Airfare is not included but may be purchased through our partner Elan travel.

Deposit and Payment of Fees
50% deposit with a non-refundable deposit of $1500 is required with your preliminary application. No refunds will be issued after June 22, 2017. The remaining balance is due by June 22nd, 2017. Booking after that date is 100% of the cost upfront.
*Fees for this program are subject to change without notice based on the currency exchange rate or other reasons beyond Chef Eric's control. Some restrictions may apply. We reserve the right to change dates, itineraries, carriers, institutions and tour guides for this program. A standard release form must be signed by all participants.
Applicants must be at least 19 years of age. Applicants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, provided that the $1500 deposit is submitted with the registration form. Final acceptance is contingent upon receipt of the remaining balance and written agreement to the program’s conditions. Please do not make travel arrangements until the program has been confirmed by Chef Eric Arrouzé.
